Todd Debreceni is a special makeup effects artist who has worked for Disney, Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, and TBS, and is the owner of BaPoFX makeup effects. He is a recipient of a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, and has received two Ovation Awards, a True West Award, and a Henry Award for Special Accomplishment in Makeup Effects. Todd has worked in film, television, and theatre around the world for more than 30 years, and his background in orthopedics and reconstructive plastic surgery have made his transition into prosthetic makeup creation a natural evolution. At BaPoFX, Todd specializes in prosthetic makeup design, fabrication, and application. He continues to teach college courses in cinematography, acting, sculpture, makeup design, and visual effects in Denver, CO, which he has done for almost 20 years.

I's worth every penny spent and I can't stop reading and browsing through the pages, there is so much to learn and so much told!Ganz ehrlich das absolut beste Buch über Maskenbau, das ich je gelesen habe (und es sind schon viele!).Die englische Sprache könnte abschrecken, ABER ES LOHNT SICH!Ein Profi beschreibt, flott und leicht verständlich geschrieben, wie in Hollywood für Science-Fiction, Fantasy, Horror in Theater und Film Menschen gealtert werden, sich in Frankenstein verwandeln und dabei vorzugehen ist.Von Einzelteilen (Ohren, Nasen, Hände, Stirn) bis zu Ganzkörperabdruck wird alles beschrieben und genau jene kleinen Detailtips gegeben, die man eigentlich nur durch jahrelanges Experimentieren und Ausprobieren kommt.Techniken der Abformung mit Gips, Alginat und Silikonkautschuk, Maskenherstellung mit Latex, Schaumlatex oder Gelatine, hier findet man einfach alles, was man immer wissen wollte und immer suchte!Für StarTrek-. StarWars-, Herr-Der-Ringe-Fans ist dieses Buch unentbehrlich, ein Muß, wenn man sich in Aliens oder andere Rassen verwandeln möchte.Ich kann nicht mehr als fünf Sterne vergeben, auch wenn ich es gerne würde.Das Buch habe ich bereits mehrfach als Geschenk an Freunde weitergegeben und immer begeistertes Feedback bekommen.Noch ein Wort zur DVD: Diese ein paar Details, wo man sich evtl. noch mehr Filmmaterial wünschen könnte. Die Herstellung von Bärten und Haarteilen ist hier sehr gut nachvollziehbar dargestellt.Ausdrückliche Empfehlung von meiner Seite für dieses Buch!
Tolles Buch und ein unglaublicher Wissensfundus zum Thema Special Effects Makeup. Für am Thema Interessierte meines Erachtens ein Must Have. Einziges Manko für europäische Leser: Einem Hobbybastler wie mir fällt es schwer die im Buch beschriebenen Materialien auf europäische Produkte abzubilden. Mit ein wenig Internetrecherche findet man aber Alternativen und Bezugsquellen.
Ein tolles Buch!Sicherlich, man muß natürlich Englisch sprechen bzw. verstehen. Wer der Sprache aber einigermaßen mächtig ist, bekommt einen super Einblich in die Welt hinter den Kulissen Hollywoods & Co.Empfehlenswert, da wirklich alles sehr ausführlich beschrieben wird. Grundlagenwissen (wie z.B. Anatomie) wird ebenso vermittelt wie auch ganz spezielle Tricks.
Wieso gibts solche Bücher nicht in deutscher Sprache? Naja, hierzulande ist natürlich der Markt zu klein, klar. Und wer einigermaßen des Englischen mächtig ist, dürfte - bis auf bestimmte Fachbegriffe - keine Probleme haben, das Buch zu lesen. Sehr guter Einblick in die Welt des Special Makeup FX mit tollen Anleitungen.
Sehr interessant und guter Ideengeber für Makeups. Mit Sicherheit mehr für den Profi geeignet - aber wer sich es zutraut kann auch hier einige gute Ideen und Anleitungen zum Maskenbilden finden.Auf alle Fälle ist das Buch sein Geld wert. Leider gibt es die Ausgabe nur in Englisch. Um bestimmte Fachausdrücke richtig zu übersetzen benötigt man ein gutes Wörterbuch oder jemanden, der Englisch als Muttersprache beherrscht.DankeCR
